of a well-balanced meal. In addition, Pyramid Pete serves as the narrator for Nurture
Our Word, a program dedicated to nurturing your health, environment, and
community.
Red
Crested Breadbeak-
He likes breads, cereals, rice, and pastas. This group of foods provides us with
carbohydrates for most of our energy. The Red Crested Breadbeak says it is
important to eat six to eleven servings from this group per day.
Fruitis
Freakus-
A healthy old bird who likes a daily diet of fresh and prepared fruit. Fruit Freakus
knows that when we eat fruit, we get necessary vitamins and minerals, especially
Vitamin C. We should have two to four servings of fruit every day.
Striped
Vegetarius-
Stays healthy by eating plenty of servings of fresh and prepared vegetables.
Vegetables provide many important nutrients and are especially good sources
of Vitamin A. We should have three to five servings of vegetables every day.
Blue
Winged Dairydactyl-
He loves all kinds of dairy foods. Milks and cheeses are his favorites. Dairy foods
provide Calcium for strong bones and teeth. Two to three dairy servings per day are
what we need to stay healthy and strong.
Spotted Meatapotomus-
He is a jolly character who eats foods that are high in protein to build strong muscles,
and healthy skin and hair. Two to three servings of protein every day is what Spotted
Meatapotomus recommends.
Miscellaneous Categorius-
A creature that loves sweets, fats, and foods that are incomplete. You can enjoy
these foods, but don't eat too many of them. Foods from this group should be eaten
in moderation.
